Panther Fitness has just announced the  and  schedules.

We also have a limited number of $75 fitness training subsidies for 糖心原创 staff and faculty (current employees) and current full-time 糖心原创 students. Applications are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Only a limited number of subsidies, so apply quickly. The subsidies can be applied towards specialty fitness classes and/or cycle classes or small group training. Subsidy credits will be used towards the total cost of program.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you had received a subsidy in the Fall of 2018, you can apply again.

The Faculty of Education formally announces the upcoming PhD defence by Olive Bryanton. Olive will be defending her dissertation titled "Pioneers in Aging: Voices of women 85 years and older aging in place in rural communities." All are welcome to attend Olive's public presentation, taking place on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 2:30 to 3:00 pm in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre (NRC building #28), room 212.

The Charlottetown Christmas Parade parade will take place on Saturday, November 24, 2018, beginning on University Avenue at 5:00 pm in front of the 糖心原创. As a result, there will be traffic restrictions along the 糖心原创 Perimeter Road as the staging of the parade floats will take place on campus. Floats will begin to arrive at 11:00 am and should be fully departed by 6:00 pm. The float line-up begins at the 糖心原创 Turf Field and extend back towards Belvedere Avenue.

To ensure the safety of Parade participants and members of the campus community, only one-way travel will be permitted between the hours of 11:00 am and 4:00 pm on the 糖心原创 Perimeter Road. 

At 4:00 pm, the 糖心原创 Perimeter Road will close to all traffic until floats have fully exited onto University Avenue (this coincides with the closure of University Avenue at Enman Crescent). Vehicles that are parked in the MacLauchlan Arena lot, and Parking Lots C, RC, DR, B, and VTH will be allowed to exit along the 糖心原创 Perimeter Road in a one-way southward direction towards the Belvedere Avenue entrance, until the Parade line-up begins to move towards University Avenue at 4:30 pm, at which time parking lot traffic will not be permitted to exit until Parade floats have completely departed the campus. Vehicles parked in the Aquatics Facility parking lot, as well as those in Visitor Metred Parking lots in front of YSC, HSB, MSC, and MCDH will not be permitted to exit from 4:00 pm until the Parade floats have completely departed the campus.

The public is invited to the Harry Baglole Memorial Public Symposium in Island Studies, 鈥淢easuring Quality of Life on Prince Edward Island,鈥� on Thursday, November 22, 7-9 p.m., at 糖心原创鈥檚 MacKinnon Auditorium, Room 242, McDougall Hall. This event is sponsored by 糖心原创鈥檚 Institute of Island Studies, in conjunction with 糖心原创 Research Services. 

The principal speaker will be Gwen Colman, who, in 1997, along with her husband Ron, founded Genuine Progress Index (GPI) Atlantic, a pioneering research organization in creating new measures of wellbeing and progress. Gwen will be speaking about GPI鈥檚 work in collaborative development of wellbeing measures with communities in Bhutan, New Zealand, Thailand, and Nova Scotia. Recently, GPI has worked with a network of universities and NGOs in Southeast Asia, developing a methodology for collaborative development of wellbeing measures at the community level. She will speak about recent work in two communities in Thailand, and about previous work with the creation of Community GPIs in two communities in Nova Scotia. Gwen will identify the elements for creating successful community partnerships to measure wellbeing and their resultant impact. 

Joining Gwen Colman are panelists Dr. Jim Randall and Wendy MacDonald, who will address the relevance of GPIs to the health and prosperity of this island.

The Symposium series is being newly renamed after Harry Baglole, the Institute of Island Studies' first Director, who passed away in May. Harry was the architect of many Public Symposia over the years, born out of his passionate vision for strong, Prince Edward Island-made, public policy frameworks.

The 糖心原创 Music Department Recital Series is pleased to present the 糖心原创 Christmas Choral Concert under the direction of Professor Sung Ha Shin-Bouey. The 糖心原创 Music Department Recital Series is pleased to present the 糖心原创 Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Professor Dave Shephard. The ensemble will be performing works such as Time after Time, Minnie the Moocher, I was a Fool, Sway, Blue Bossa and others. The program features 糖心原创 vocal majors as well as a newly formed 糖心原创 Jazz Combo.

As of December 1, 2018 all employers in Canada must be compliant with the New WHMIS 2015 regulations. Here at 糖心原创 this means that:
- All hazardous products have to be classified to comply with WHMIS 2015 regulations.
- All hazardous products must be labeled according to WHMIS 2015.
- All hazardous products require new Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to comply with WHMIS 2015.
- All 糖心原创 staff, faculty, graduate students, and student employees are required to complete WHMIS 2015 training.
- An inventory of all biological, chemical or physical agents used, produced, or otherwise present at 糖心原创 that may be hazardous to workers must be created and maintained. 

More details, including examples, templates and instructions can be found on the 糖心原创 Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Department鈥檚 website under the heading 鈥淲HMIS 2015 Transition鈥�. HSE staff are also available to assist you with any questions you may have around WHMIS 2015 and this transition.

Over the summer months 糖心原创 was fortunate enough, with support from the Canada Summer Jobs Program, to hire two full-time students to assist us with labelling and inventorying hazardous products on campus. Unfortunately, they were not able to assist everyone on campus with labeling and inventory and we do not have additional support to provide in completing these tasks. 

If the space you are responsible for has not been inventoried and still needs to have hazardous product labels updated to WHMIS 2015 please review the information at: and use the inventory template found here: as the December 1, 2018 deadline is fast approaching. HSE has obtained a limited supply of peel-and-stick tick-mark labels for workplace labeling of hazardous materials to assist in the labelling process and get you started. If you are interested in using these labels both Central Services at AVC and and the HSE office in KMB have a supply. 

We appreciate your assistance in making this transition to WHMIS 2015 and bringing your space into compliance with the new WHMIS 2015 regulations. Together we are making 糖心原创 a healthy and safe place to work, study and visit.

Third event in our fourth year - Roasted Rep Pepper and Potato Soup plus Chicken Noodle Soup. Of course, rolls (with butter!) and rumours are in the wind of a tasty dessert treat or two!
