Building Websites with Jekyll and GitHub
June, 23, 25 10:00 am-1:00 pm Atlantic (online)
This 6-hour workshop will teach participants how to create and host static websites using Jekyll and GitHub Pages. Static websites have many benefits, including low cost, faster rendering, easier to backup and preserve, and have far fewer security issues in comparison to popular dynamic platforms. Learners will be guided through writing formatted content with Markdown, configuring GitHub to build and serve pages, building multi-page sites with Jekyll, and customizing layouts. No prior experience with Git or web development is required 鈥� only comfort using a web browser 鈥� though a basic familiarity with HTML is helpful. This workshop is suitable for anyone looking to build a personal site or project documentation.
Engineering is seeking empty printer-paper boxes to use for a lab activity in ENGN 1410 (Sustainability in Engineering Design) in the fall semester. Students will be using the boxes as the base for model net-zero energy houses they will design and construct from recycled materials.
We need the boxes that held 10 reams of letter-sized printer paper.

The Department of Health Management at AVC will be interviewing for the three-year faculty position in Ruminant Health Management on Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12.
