Catholic Student Association General Members Meeting to discuss and plan upcoming events.

University students from all over the Maritimes will come to PEI to participate in our regional conference which goes all weekend.

There will be a fundraising lunch on Wednesday, October 12 from 10:30 am to 1pm to support the upcoming Wheel & Win Wheelchair Challenge that supports the Canadian Paraplegic Assocation (formerly the Rick Hansen Wheelchair Challenge). Sponsored by EAP classes 20A and 17B, everyone who comes will receive an international lunch and entertainment for $6.00. Entertainment includes a Chinese dance, several guitar solos and a Gujung performance at 12 noon by Oxana Wang. Food includes sushi, dumplings, fried chicken, fried rice, noodles, sweets and more! We also have a nicknack table of sale items and you are welcome to bring something along to sell for the cause!

The 糖心原创 Career Development Centre will host the Fall Federal Career Fair on November 9th 2011 from 11:00-2:00 pm at the WA Murphy Student Centre. It is an opportunity for students and graduates seeking information about career opportunities with the federal government and for federal organizations to help guide the students through the application process.

Please join Faculty of Education鈥檚 PhD and Masters students as they present their work. The seminar will start with a Ph.D Panel: 鈥淚ssues of identity in Educational Research: Bridging theory and practice鈥� with Verne Lorway presenting 鈥淢usical ruling relations and youth cultural identity in reflexive educational research鈥� and Bonnie Stewart presenting 鈥淪ocial Media Identity: Practices, Platforms, and Performativity.鈥� MED student Joanne MacNevin will present her research on "鈥楩eeling our way in the dark鈥�: Educational Directions for Students from Refugee Backgrounds.鈥�

Dr. Janet Ferguson will present 鈥淯nderstanding Teacher Identity Development Through Narrative Inquiry.鈥� Narrative inquiry can expose the struggle created by competing forces that come to bear on all of us as teachers and thus create spaces for renewed compassion and appreciation for pre-service teachers but also for each other as teacher educators.

Dr. Laura Mae Lindo will present 鈥淐hallenge, Change, and Sensibilities: Learning from the 鈥楻ace Comic.鈥欌�� Research focus: Re-envisioning anti-racist interventions in pre-service classrooms and beyond.

The 糖心原创 Theatre Society is proud to present CTPAX: A night of one-act plays by Russian playwright, Anton Chekhov. There are three comedic one-acts, 鈥淭he Proposal鈥� and 鈥淭he Bear鈥�, translated by Paul Schmidt, and 鈥淪wan Song鈥�. Shows run Thursday through Saturday, November 3, 4, and 5 at the 糖心原创 Faculty Lounge. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Start time is 7:30 pm. General admission is $5.00 at the door. 鈥淭he Proposal,鈥� directed by Ben Hartley, is a hilarious story of young love gone awry. Starring Olu Babatunde, Ben Hayman, and Toni Timmins, 鈥淭he Proposal鈥� shows how old feuds between two families threaten to ruin a young man鈥檚 marriage proposal. Next, a battle of the sexes rages in 鈥淭he Bear,鈥� directed by Heather Parry. If it is equality she wants then the landowner is happy to oblige by challenging the widow to a duel. Robert Crossley, Julie Kevan, and Justin Shaw star in the comedic one-act, 鈥淭he Bear鈥�. And, finally, a man comes to the end of an era in 鈥淪wan Song鈥�, directed by Dan Bannerman. Jeff Moynagh stars as Ivan Svietlovidoff, an aging actor who reflects on his life and wonders if it was all worth it. Ben MacDonald plays Nikita Ivanitch, a young actor who helps Ivan come to terms with his age, and his career on the stage.
