The ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Department of Athletics and Recreation is thrilled to announce that the 2023 Canada Games Legacy Fund has awarded funds to install lighting to enhance the sport and community experience at ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Alumni Canada Games Place. The project is a collaboration between the Government of Prince Edward Island, the City of Charlottetown, Holland College, and the University.

Every week, ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Panther Athletes of the Week for January 20–26, 2025, are Lauren Rainford (women’s basketball) and Kyree Thompson (men’s basketball).

ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ has issued its annual call for nominations of candidates for honorary degrees to be conferred at Convocation in May 2025. The deadline to submit a nomination is Monday, February 17, 2025, by 11:59 pm.

The ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Department of Athletics and Recreation is excited to announce that the 2023 Canada Games Legacy Fund has approved funding for essential track and field equipment upgrades at ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Alumni Canada Games Place. The funding will be used to acquire state-of-the-art apparatus such as starter blocks, timing equipment, throwing cage upgrades, and self-contained storage units.

In a message to faculty and staff, ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ expressed condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Tim Goddard, Professor Emeritus, who passed away on January 23, 2025.

Members of the MacLauchlan family and the ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ campus community celebrated the achievements of students, faculty, and staff at the 13th annual MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing on Tuesday, January 21, in Schurman Market Square, Don and Marion McDougall Hall. The event recognizes writing excellence or leadership in the development of writing among ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ students, staff, and faculty.
